Selective Refining Extract – NZMP (plant designation)

Selective Refining Extract (ESO) is a heavy petroleum product obtained during the processing of oils with selective solvents such as furfural or phenol. The product features a high content of aromatic hydrocarbons and is used as feedstock in the chemical and rubber industries, as well as a component in the production of lubricants and process fluids.

Applications:
• Intended as a carbon-containing additive for molding compounds in foundry operations, for impregnating compositions of gland packings, etc.;
• Production of antioxidant and modifying additives;
• Feedstock for plasticizers in the rubber industry;
• Component for lubricating compositions;
• Used in the production of soft bitumens and sealants.
